TVS Motor Company Announces Highest-Ever Third Quarter Fiscal 2022 Revenue

After reporting its highest ever revenue in the second quarter of FY 2021-22, TVS Motor Company reported another highest ever operating revenue of ₹5,706 crore in the third quarter 2021-22 from ₹5,391 crore in the third quarter ended December 2020. The company also disclosed that its operating EBITDA margin increased to 10% in the quarter from 9.5%, as it recorded ₹568 crore against ₹511 crore in the same quarter in 2020. Additionally, the company also recorded its highest ever pre-tax profit (PBT) of ₹391 crore in the quarter against ₹362 crore reported in the engine of the quarter in December 2020. Profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter ended December 2021 increased by 9 percent to ₹288 crore from ₹266 crore reported in the quarter ended December 2020.

The company said in a statement that it recorded total two-wheeler sales of 8.35 lakh units in the current quarter compared to 9.52 lakh units in the quarter ended December 2020. Sales at the export of two-wheelers increased by 12% from the third quarter of last fiscal year, while the motorcycles business recorded sales of 4.46 lakh units against sales of 4.26 lakh units. The scooter segment recorded sales of 2.56 lakh units compared to 3.11 lakh units in the quarter ended December 2020, while the total three-wheeler segment grew by 17%, recording sales of 44,000 units in the quarter ended December 2021 compared to sales of 38,000 units in the quarter ended December 2020.

TVS Motor also revealed that its total two-wheeler sales including exports stood at 23.23 lakh units in the nine months ending December 2021, compared to 20.42 lakh units in the nine months. the same period last year. Here, total three-wheeler sales increased by 57% to 1.30 lakh units in the nine months ended December 2021 from 83,000 units in the nine months ended December 2020, while total exports increased increased by 68% recording sales of 9.38 lakh units from 5.57 lakh units in the nine months ending December 2020.

Regarding operating revenue, the company reported that the nine months ended December 2021 was ₹15,260 crore compared to ₹11,429 crore reported for the nine months ended December 2020. The PBT before exceptional items for nine months ending December 2021 is ₹871 crore compared to ₹439 crore for nine months ending December 2020. During the period, TVS Motor spent ₹30 crore on COVID-19 related expenses, while PAT for the nine months ending December 2021 is ₹619 crore compared to ₹323 crore published for the nine months ending December 2020.
