Tata Motors has announced that it has reached a new commercial milestone with its Nexon EV. In the past two years since its launch, the company has sold over 13,500 units of the all-electric subcompact SUV in India. Interestingly, last year, in April 2021, the company announced that it had passed the 4,000 unit milestone in India, which means the company sold over 9,000 units of the Nexon EV in just 10 months. Now, this is certainly a very impressive milestone for an EV in the Indian car market.

At present, the Tata Nexon EV is India’s top-selling electric car, averaging around 1,000 units per month. It was the first electric vehicle launched by the local automaker for passenger car buyers and became an instant hit. For a very long time it was the most affordable electric vehicle for passenger car buyers, until recently when Tata Motors launched the Tigor EV. At present, the price of Nexon EV in India is between ₹14.29 lakh to ₹16.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Tata Nexon EV is powered by a permanent magnet AC motor coupled to a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric motor is tuned for 127hp and 245Nm of peak torque and can sprint from 0-100km/h in 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 120km/h. The IP67 rated battery is water resistant and offers an ARAI certified range of 312 km on a single charge. Tata offers a 3.3kW on-board charger with the Nexon EV that can fully charge in eight hours. Meanwhile, a 25kW DC fast charger will recharge the vehicle from 0-80% in 60 minutes.

The Nexon EV is available in three color options – Signature Teal Blue, Glacier White and Moonlit Silver, and recently the company also introduced a Dark Edition, offering the EV in a stylish Midnight Black shade. The feature list is complete with LED daytime running lights and taillights, power sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. inches with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
